你有见到吗？上万神祕蓝紫色胶状生物被冲刷至南加州海岸
这种胶状生物的学名叫作 Velella velella 帆水母，利用一个呈扁平、椭圆形的半透明帆状结构漂浮在海洋中，下半部分呈蓝紫色。它们通常也被称为 By-the-Wind Sailors 随风水手，还被叫做 Colonial Hydroid 殖民水螅。它们类似于有毒的 Portuguese Man O’War 葡萄牙战舰（或称僧帽水母），是凭借海风四处活动的腔肠动物，但它们本身无毒。Velella velella 以藻类和浮游动物为食，是 Sunfish 翻车鱼最喜欢的食物。

虽然这些蓝紫色的生物非常吸引人，通常也被认为对人类没有危险，但它们也有刺细胞，可能会蜇人，因而海洋生物学家建议人们应该避免触摸它们。当强风将它们推上岸时，全球各地的海滩上经常会看到这类生物，一旦它们搁浅在海滩上就会解体并死亡。而这批生物被冲刷上岸很可能是由于加州近来发生的冬季风暴导致的。
