太浩湖官员敦促游客和居民远离 Camp Richardson 附近水域，因为该湖出现污水外泄，导致大肠杆菌（E. coli）含量升高。
在湖南岸度假村附近采集的水样检测出高浓度的大肠杆菌，这种细菌若被吞入，可能引起胃肠不适。经调查，外泄源头为度假村的一条破裂污水管线，目前已定位并正在修复中。根据美国森林管理局于8月1日发布的新闻稿，近期检测发现污染情况，但官方未具体说明采样时间或外泄发生时间。
目前尚无疾病通报，但出于谨慎考量，当局已在 Jameson 海滩至 Valhalla 船屋之间设置警告标志，提醒游泳者、船只及划船者避免进入水域。
