崔成範表示，接下來死亡人數還可能繼續上升，且目前具體受傷人數不詳，情況相當嚴峻。

韓國當地媒體稍早報導，疑似一名身份不明的名人到訪梨泰院酒吧後，吸引大批人群湧向該間酒吧，因此在一條狹窄街道上釀成推擠踩踏意外。

據紐約時報報導，梨泰院踩踏意外是自2014年世越號渡輪沉沒、造成300餘人死亡以來，韓國承平時期傷亡最慘重的災難事件。
